Prenatal Care
What is prenatal care?
Sometimes also called antenatal care, it is a set of carefully considered healthcare services offered by a team of doctors, usually consisting of an obstetrician and a team of specialists. It includes dietary and lifestyle choices, as well as tests and examinations to ensure that your wellbeing is always being monitored. Your baby’s growth and development is also closely followed, and complications are anticipated and prevented.
Routine check-ups form the most important part of the regimen. Our doctors and nurses will be with you throughout your pregnancy journey.
How frequently will these prenatal care visits happen?
This depends on how far along your pregnancy is, and on the potential health complications that you might have. Usually, healthy pregnant women aged between 18-35 years should take up routine check-ups as follows:
- For the first 32 weeks: Every 4 or 6 weeks
- For the 32nd-37th weeks: Every 2 or 3 weeks
- A weekly visit is a must from the 37th week until delivery
This can change if you have a high-risk pregnancy or if your age is above 35.
