NURSING AID/ANM

Main Objective of the Role

Auxiliary nurses, in essence, are healthcare assistants who provide great help to professional staff or Registered Nurse under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or a physician to take care and look after the medical needs of patients in hospitals. Once you become an auxiliary nurse, you need to perform basic nursing care duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for basic bedside nursing care.
  • To check the height and weight on admission and weekly weight recording thereafter.
  • To check and monitor vital signs – Temperature, Pulse, Respiration, and Blood Pressure.
  • Setting up procedure trays and dressing trolleys and assisting doctor in procedures and dressings.
  • Maintenance of bedside cleanliness and personal hygiene of patients.
  • Assist in transportation of patients whenever necessary.
  • Assist consultants in OPD consult rooms.
  • Follow strictly all safety measures involved in patient care.  
  • To maintain a cordial interpersonal relationship within the unit and with support departments.
  • To be aware of patients rights and preserve the same.
  • To perform patient and family education.
  • To handle with care and with knowledge all gadgets used in patient care in the wards/departments/OPD.
  • To pack and get autoclaved/gas sterilization of dressings, linen, instruments, drainage bottles etc.
  • To feed the patient after ensuring that it is the correct diet.
  • To collect specimen or wound cultures other than blood if necessary and follow up for reports.
  • To assist in ECG recording.
  • Attend in service programs and trainings to enhance knowledge.
  • To maintain strict discipline and decorum at all times.
  • To be aware of NABH standards and implement the same.

Major Job Qualifications / Specific Skills

Required Education: 10th class with diploma in auxiliary nursing and midwifery/ Multi-Purpose Health worker course.

Experience: 2 – 6 Years

Knowledge and Specific Skills: Clinical Skills, Knowledge of handling clinical & biomedical instrument, Documentation skills, People Skills, Follow Safety Precaution
